When is a public purchase witness required

A public purchase witness confirms a paper transfer of real property and verifies the signatories.

Real property or housing-company shares

A witness is used for transfers of real property, parcels and shares of real property. Housing-company share sales do not require one.

Electronic property transfers

A separate witness is not required when the transfer is completed in the National Land Survey’s electronic service.

Fee in 2026

The statutory fee is €143 per deed. Travel costs may be charged when confirmation takes place away from the witness’s office.
